Ace This Semester

College freshmen everywhere, rejoice during this time off from the highs and lows of academia.  You deserve a chance to squalor away some time and dedicate it to something trivial and mundane.  We understand the obstacles you must face every day within the confines of the classroom.  It is not easy being in your shoes.  We remember what it was like in school, (passing notes in class) texting in class about how tough it is.  We feel your pain and we have one recommendation for you.  Take advantage of this winter break and stay ahead of the competition with a personalized notepad.  How? We will get to this piece of trivia soon enough.

Well, it is probably safe to say that your fellow classmates are filling their heads with endless amounts of information that has no beneficial result – i.e. – watching reruns of the Jersey Shore.  Admit it not too long ago you were still watching Sponge Bob Square Pants in your pajamas, eating a bowl of cereal at two o’clock in the afternoon.

But now that you have started college, you have matured and no longer watch such nonsense when you have already seen an abridged version on YouTube.  With this new found freedom take the initiative and this opportunity to become a better student.   You are on your way.  Organizing the following semester before it starts is crucial to your academic success.  Keep to every study session and scholarly jamboree with a meticulous eye.  Turn in big assignments on time.  Write every research paper with confidence.  You are one personalized notepad away from acing this semester.

Personally I always found personalized notepads the most convenient way to take notes in college, whether it was leaving little reminders for myself about what I needed to buy or when I needed to meet up with my study group, or actually taking notes in class. Those dry erase boards are great for leaving a message for your roommate, but you can’t take them with you so it’s useless to write things down on them that you might need to be reminded of when you aren’t at home. And personalized notepads are just so much easier and more convenient to carry around than full sized notebooks or even laptops. You can stick one in your jacket pocket or your purse and not have to lug around a backpack everywhere you go.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I found being a college freshman pretty easy. All my classes that first semester were fairly basic stuff, and being away from home wasn’t super tough since I was only maybe an hour’s drive away.

Naturally, I kept well supplied with personalized notepads to write down any reminders I needed, and I had a stock of personalized cards to send home every once in awhile to stay in touch with my family. Yeah, we had email and the phone, but sometimes writing a personalized card just feels right in a way those other forms of communication don’t.

I definitely second the advice of taking personalized notepads to class, though. Keeping organized is incredibly important when you’re starting college, and it’s easy to forget things if you don’t write it all down.

Actually, it’s great that Henry mentioned care packages. I used to get care packages from my family every semester when I was in college. Usually they were full of junk food, candy, and coffee, but they occasionally stuck something more helpful in there as well, like a personalized notepad.

Personally, I would hate to have my finals after coming back from holiday break. I had that in high school, and it was no good. Having finals hanging over your head during break is no fun. Sure, that means you can have more time to study, but that also means you need to spend part of your break studying! Also, during that time you’re away from school, away from professors, and it’s easy to forget some of the things you learned, which is bad right before a test. Sure, I would write down notes on my personalized notepads and try to remember everything that might be on the test, but it’s much better to get your finals over and done with before you go home for winter break.

Anyway, if you’re going to send a care package to someone who’s in college, you should definitely consider putting in a personalized notepad alongside the caffeine and food you give them. Personalizing it with an encouraging message is a great idea, but the notepad itself will also be very useful, especially when finals are right around the corner.
