We should give the gift of stationery or notepads to young people so that they have this experience, at least. If the children then move on to use their computer screen and keyboard to compose their thoughts, that is natural, too. My daughter just finished 2nd grade but she still loves her kindergarten teacher and visits her regularly in her classroom. At the end of each school year my daughter gives her kindergarten teacher a bouquet of lavenders. This summer the teacher mailed a hand written thank you note to my daughter and told her how much she enjoys my daughter’s visits and the lavender. You should have seen my daughter's excitement about receiving a card from her favorite teacher! She immediately set down and wrote the cutest letter to her teacher telling her that she is still the best teacher she ever had and that she will never forget her. We mailed the letter to the teacher... I wish we could see her face when she opens my daughter's note. Thank you for the great ideas.
