Distasteful Sympathy Cards

I was browsing through some e-cards online looking for something cute to surprise my one of my coworkers with on her birthday when I was quite appalled to see sympathy cards available in an e-card format.

Sending out sympathy cards in an e-card format not only struck me as informal but also as distasteful.

I believe that thank you cards, as well, deserve the extra time of ordering appropriate stationary and writing out a personal message.

Even though we live in an instant gratification society in which our computers provide us with instant access to movies, music, and a wealth of other information, there are some things that should not be done in an instant, such as expressing sympathy.

It is a matter of simple etiquette that obliges a person to send out sympathy cards with a hand written note.

When someone that you know is going through a rough time because of a loss of a loved one or a difficult time in their life, you need to express sympathy in the most sincere form, which would be a hand written letter.

In any situation in which you would like to express sympathy you need to do so in the most personal manner as possible. While it is acceptable to make a phone call in order to express immediate sympathy, you should also follow up with a sympathy card.

If you are concerned that you may not have the time to go out and shop for individual sympathy cards every time that you may need one then you can purchase blank note cards and write a heart felt note of sympathy on the inside.

A blank note card with a heart felt note is always much more well received than a sympathy card sent via the computer. It is a smart idea to keep some blank note cards on hand so that you can easily use them to write out notes of sympathy, thank you notes, and to drop a line to a friend.

Blank note cards are one of the most useful and versatile items that you can have in your home ready at hand.

There are some certain instances in which it is not appropriate to send out correspondence via the computer. When you need to send out a sympathy card you must do it by hand. Sympathy cards must always be hand written to demonstrate your true sympathy.

The same goes for thank you cards.

In this day and age when technology gives us the promise that tasks can be completed in a reduced amount of time, it is still common etiquette not to take the short route when it comes to expressing sympathy and gratitude.
