Getting Personal with Giftsin24

Each month Daily Notes Journal will introduce a new member from the Giftsin24 team. Our last introduction gave us the pleasure of meeting one of our zombie fighting graphic designers. Today we would like to present one of the mad geniuses behind the Giftsin24 website. His name is Dustin Baker, a direct marketing sage, a devoted bears fan and a biker who pops one heck of a wheelie.
Position: Director of Direct Marketing and supervisor of Giftsin24
Years with Giftsin24: 3.5 years
In ten words or less please describe what you do?
I supervise the navigation and content for Giftsin24.
What is the most exciting and most difficult part of your job?
Coordinating all of the creative workers and seeing all of their creative work: writing and artistic.
How has marketing changed over the years in respect to what you do?
Search Engine Optimization by far – at first it was to advertise and work on the best offer, but the focus has turned into SEO.
Give me (a new customer) your perfect sales pitch…What would you say to convince me that stationery is relevant to my life?
To open an email, read and delete it is very impersonal. But to receive a letter, not only hand written, but personalized with their name is something that I will never want to throw away. It is something more special than receiving a text or an email.
Some may say you have a bad side because you ride a motorcycle is this true?
I ride a motorcycle because it is what my family grew up on. It is more enjoyable than riding in a car, and I get to save on gas.
Bears or Packers?
Bears…..BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!!
Which comic book superhero or villain would you choose to be and why?
Bobby Drake (aka: Iceman). He is considered one of the 4 most powerful mutants in the marvel universe, yet he is still the most underrated Hero. This guy needs some love.
What is your favorite Giftsin24 item?
I love the new Family Photo Lists. They are exciting to have and easy to create. I can add any photo to these items, and the prints come out nice and clean.
Where do you see Giftsin24 in the near future?
Giftsin24 will still be an industry leader in personalized stationery, notepads and napkins. This is because we are competitive in our prices as well as being the fastest in the industry in production and shipment.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, but could have three luxuries what would they be?
- Pencil and paper (I can draw all day long and not get bored)
- Water Filter pump (yes, I need clean water)
- Toilet paper (I can’t be using leaves now, you never know what are on those things)

Summer 2013 is still very much up in the air. Are you planning a barbecue, birthday sweet sixteen party or a big celebration for one of our superhero movies of the summer? The only way you wouldn’t know Breaking Dawn II hadn’t been released is if you took a trip in outer space somewhere and were out of reach of any of our 83 Best Selling Notes or 54 Best Selling Cards. I’m really stuck between a rock and a hard place and I can’t decide whether Personalized Banner, Bordered, Chancery, Executive, Classic Monogram, Bordered, Manhattan, Watermark, Estate, Tuscany, Reno or any of a number of our Personalized Cards or Notes will be the right choice for an Invitation to get together with friends young or old for a summer super hero movie: Iron Man III, Man of Steel, Wolverine or the sequel to Thor in the fall. Did you remember to send out Personalized Cards and Notes for your Oscar party. Has it become the talk of the town?
” I love action-adventure-type films – mythical adventures like ‘Lord of the Rings’ or superhero films like ‘Batman.”

Yay, I like interviews with GiftsIn24 staff! Dustin has a lot of good points – I would definitely want some kind of water filter if I was stuck on a deserted island too!
But seriously, I think he’s dead-on about the new Family Photo Lists. I’m really happy to see GiftsIn24 continue to be a leader in stationery trends like this, and bring out such awesome products that let you add personal photos to your personalized cards and other stationery products! How cool is that?

Dustin’s pitch in favor of personalized stationery over electronic methods of communication hits the nail right on the head. That’s a point that can easily be expanded on (and has been in the past, here on the blog), so regular readers will be well aware of the advantages that personalized stationery has over something like email or text messaging.
Also, I agree that SEO is very important these days – maybe the most important way of advertising for a business like GiftsIn24 who primarily does their business online. At least, I think you do – there isn’t a physical store people walk into to order their stationery, right? That seems like it would be rather redundant anyway, since you would still have to place the order via computer.

Why Iceman? I knew he was one of the first X-Men but I had no idea he was supposed to be one of the most powerful as well. That’s cool!
I still have a question about the Family Photo Lists. I do think they’re an awesome idea, but I’m still wondering what the limits are on the pictures you can submit. Does it have to be a photograph? If I have some art on my computer that I would like to have put onto professional-quality personalized stationery, could I do that? If so, do I have to own the copyright to it? I’m really interested to know the answers to this.

Once again it’s very cool to get to meet and learn about the Giftsin24 staff. Who will we get to hear from next? The company president? The people who operate the machines that make the stationery? Both would be interesting blog subjects.
I also think it would be interesting to see an interview with Rick, to get an insight into his somewhat zany style and see what makes him tick. For all the blogs he writes about personalized stationery packed full of odd analogies and crazy metaphors, I’d like to see what he’s really like as a person sometime.

Bethany, I think that’s a great idea. I’d love to see the proverbial tables get turned on Rick and see him get interviewed. I think that would be very interesting!
I’ve been looking around online at various stationery blogs, and it seems like adding photos to personalized notepads and cards is definitely becoming a trend. I’m glad to see giftsin24.com isn’t getting left behind on this one. You guys have always been up on stationery trends, so I’m glad to see it’s still the case. And one thing’s for sure – nobody is doing it better!

It’s very nice to be able to meet another face at the company that makes all these wonderful personalized stationery products. Learning a bunch of details about who these folks are gives a nice bit of insight into how we get the great products we do, I think.
I agree with Dustin that search engine optimization is an important and effective marketing tool, especially for a company like GiftsIn24. Since people tend to pick from the first result or two on Google, it’s very important to make sure you are that top result, because every spot further down on the search list means that many less people who will end up coming to your site and possibly doing business with you

I don’t know everything but life teaches you a lot of things. This “ever changing world pushes you through another door” and a few more in the process. Along the way you should take time out to let some one know that the little help they offered or were responsible for was greatly appreciated. Sometimes you receive a stark revelation when you acknowledge that someone has done something for your benefit, something just because they stopped long enough to consider the option and decide in your favor. It is quite a pleasant surprise some times and the acknowledgment couldn’t be better wrapped in One of our Personalized Thank You Notes in California Classic or Geneva Monogram, Double Thick Traditional or Paris Monogram Notes. That old adage, the more good you do for others, the more they will do in return for you. I recently sent out a pink
Director Note. It was because someone I hadn’t met, who I didn’t know went out of there way to save me some worry. ” I don’t know what to say. After my initial encounter with the person with the order and other issues from that day” began the note in which I told and thanked someone how their actions had changed my perspective. His actions had a profound effect. I’m hoping my thank you continues the train of thought.
” If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.”
