The Most Memorable Detail
I just got the phone call. My sister is pregnant!
As the oldest of 6 girls, the who’s-who of who could be pregnant is a crapshoot. By the age of 37, I have already given my parents 2 grandchildren to dote over. I was done. So now the pressure was on the rest of the tribe to follow suit.
And thank the heavens above when it actually was my second–oldest sister making this huge announcement.
So as the oldest child in the family, everyone turned to me to throw my baby sister an amazing baby shower. Having “been there, done that” a couple of times already, I was more that willing to take on this challenge. After sitting down for a few hours with my other sisters to discuss the details (and a few bottles of wine later), we designed the perfect party:
1. A huge guest list – The more the merrier!
2. A color scheme – She was having a boy, so blue it was.
3. The theme – She loves zoo animals, so tigers, monkeys and giraffes were more than appropriate.
4. She loves ‘snacky’ food. Instead of throwing out a huge meal, tapas and sangria are the perfect fit.
5. Personalize everything – since we already knew what the baby’s name would be, we special-ordered the banner, cake, plates, cups, chocolate bars and party favors adorned with my future nephew’s name.
But there was something missing. After reviewing the extensive list we created, I realized one of the most important details that was missing: personalized children’s napkins! I have always been impressed when I’ve seen them at other baby showers, so I thought, why not?! They would add the perfect touch to this wonderful occasion. Aside from the baby gifts and delicious food, if people remember the personalized napkins, then I’ve done my job being the perfect hostess.
After all, my sister is only going to be pregnant once. Or twice….or possibly a third time. Guess we’ll see how smooth this one goes first.

As a proud mother of three beautiful girls I can tell you it is truly a blessing. I remember each time I had my daughters I couldn’t wait get them home out of the hospital so I could work on ordering my Birth Announcements. It was always a special moment for me choosing one that I felt was fitting to introduce our newest addition. It is such a great feeling being a proud parent sending these out to friends and family.

I don’t really have any experience with baby showers, but it sounds like you’ve got things well in hand. I didn’t know there were children’s personalized napkins designs too, that’s pretty cool!
I can imagine that the right personalized napkins would spruce up a baby shower a bit, especially if you know the baby’s name already and can put that on the napkins. Good story!

Personalized napkins with the baby’s name on them… a very nice touch! That’s a clever way to make the baby shower a little bit cooler. Plus the mother-to-be can save one of the napkins and put it in the folder or box or whatever with other baby memorabilia.
I know my own mother has a box somewhere that has a lot of stuff from when I was born, like the hospital wristband, baby clothes, and so on. I bet if there had been personalized napkins at the wedding shower, she would have kept one of those in the box too.

The best thing is that you can put your own little phrases that suit to your customization needs. For instance,
“Bottles and booties

enjoy the moment with gifts and more”

Whether it is a baby boy or baby girl, the work is extensive for baby shower. I suggest splitting the venues between family and have small sprints for each project. Assign responsibilities and break the baby shower into small tasks.

I’m co-planning a baby shower that is just over a week away and we want to do the game for mom-to-be where there is a poem and in place of key words there are numbers and mom opens the corresponding wrapped item in a diaper basket and the items complete the story with “hugs” diapers. I’ve seen this similar thing done at bridal showers too but can’t seem to find the story for use at a baby shower anywhere. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Adjusting to school life can be surprisingly hard. I just transferred to a dormitory and the feeling of homesickness just oozed in. Fortunately, my parents were prepared for that and send me extra surplus of goodies and notecards to remedy my problem.

When it comes to announcing the birth of babies, I really like to dazzle my guests with everything I have. In essence, the goal is to add a theme for your baby. And you can never go wrong with personalizing it. We even personalized balloons which went great with personalized napkins.

For some reason when I attend baby showers, I expect a full course menu. Maybe it is because I love eating but I really expect goodies such as brownies, pizza, and other fast food items. Chips and dip don’t really work for me. The best food item is cake because it is just so yummy.

I am a stay-at-home mom with two children, ages 4 and 7. My four year old started kindergarten this year. He has gone to preschool the last two years but only for half a day and sometimes he stayed home if we felt like it. Last week, when I was walking him into school, he told me “Mommy, I miss the old days.” I asked him “When were the old days” and he replied, “When I was four.” It broke my heart. When it was time for me to leave him, he could not controlled his tears. It was sad but at the same time an experience that most Moms have to engage in.
