A Long-Awaited Event

A childhood of dreaming. Years of planning. Nine months of growth and preparation.  And then finally….the moment arrives!

Like most women, I grew up with ideals of who I would be when I grew up, what I would do with my life and how many kids I would have. I think it was around my late-teens that I scripted out my life’s plan: education, career, marriage then family. Exactly in that order.  And once that decision was made, it was set in stone.

After years of diligence, discipline and hard work, each of these events happened exactly as planned. Eventually, one amazing day, everything fell into perfect order. I had the loving husband, great career and beautiful new home. All that was left was a little bundle of joy to complete the picture.

Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

6 months later, my wish came true. I was pregnant! Of course I informed the appropriate people immediately. Mom cried, Dad grunted an approving grunt and my sisters screamed until my ears bled. Wow! As for telling the rest of the world, well, my husband and I decided to wait to do it in proper fashion with a personalized birth announcement.

So after 9 months of sleepless nights, mood swings, eating everything in site, maneuvering an ever-growing belly, endless doctor appointments and a truckload of Tums, our beautiful, healthy daughter joined us on a cold winter morning.

As soon as we got home, the first thing I wanted to do was scream to the rest of the world about how in love we were with this little girl. But of course, I had to do it in my own creative, quirky way. Designing the perfect birth announcement was so easy and so much fun! I had total control over the color scheme, font, design and every word that went on the card. I could even add a picture of my little angel. How cool is that! After I was completely happy with my creation, I ordered my personalized birth announcements and sent them out right away, beaming with pride. All with just a few clicks of a mouse.

Hold on, she just had her first poop. I think I need to mail out a detailed announcement about that………KIDDING!

Why Birth Announcements Should Be Sent

Author: John Madlock

If having a baby is a completely new adventure for you, then the thoughts of whether or not birth announcements should be sent out has probably crossed your mind more than once. This significant note sent through the mail to your family and friends is one that marks a brand new life brought into the world – one that you are completely responsible for, so why wouldn’t you want to share your newfound pride and joy with those special people in your life? Believe me, they will be thrilled to receive such a personalized memento of your joyous occasion, and they’re probably anticipating its arrival already ! Not to worry, as sending out birth announcements is one of the easiest parts of parenthood, you just need to be set in the right direction!

Your birth announcement of choice should reflect both the personality and originality of your newest (and cutest) family member. Sure, you could try to create and print them out yourself on your computer in between the diapers, bottles and amazing amount of laundry that such a little person makes, but do you really have the time or energy to get the job done right? After all, a birth announcement is you showing off your child to the world- this is important!

Choosing your birth announcements should be fun, so be sure to work with a company that also believes this- you’ll have enough headaches in the coming years and this shouldn’t be one of them. Anyhow, parents-to-be can pick out the basics of their announcement ahead of time. For example, if you know the gender of the child before birth, you can pick out a color and design or pattern, leaving the “unknown technicalities” such as weight, length, date and time until after the long-awaited day arrives!

Which brings us to our next topic- the information that should be printed on your birth announcement! Of course, the new child’s full name (middle names are very important), parents names (and mother’s maiden name, if married, to help recipients with a bit of memory loss). The birth date and time, as well as the weight and length/height of the baby at birth are each essential pieces of information in which your addressee will be looking forward to receiving!

A good quality birth announcement company is able to fill your order within a week or so, but a great quality birth announcement company will have your order ready to ship within a few days! Besides complimentary “RUSH” service and attention to detail that you (and your new baby) deserve, your company of choice should offer a wide assortment of other coordinated and related products to make your life a bit easier. For example, the ability to order birth announcements with coordinating imprinted envelopes and matching thank-you cards should not be as difficult as going through labor!

Personalized napkins and baby shower favors

Personalized napkins and baby shower favors

Author: Ingrid Sure

Baby showers are adorable: having friends that organize one for you and spend time with youpersonalized baby shower gifts to share the joyful moments is really great. It is natural that you have to thank them in some way and give them a little something that can remind them of the beautiful evening. Baby shower favors are the best way to say thanks to your friends and family who came to the baby shower. However, sometimes it can be hard to decide what to give on such an occasion. Even though homemade baby favors sound great, let’s face it, not many people have the time to make dozens of baby shower favors for their friends. If you are looking for cute yet affordable favors, you shouldn’t look anymore. I found a website a few days ago that offers everything you need on any similar occasion. Small things sometimes matter a lot, and they definitely know that. Wedding favors, baptism favors, christening favors and other kinds of small gifts are always a nice way to say thank you and you can find them all in one place now. I was looking for first communion favors when I found this online shop.

There are much more things here than communion favors and baby shower favors. You can find adorable personalized ribbons for instance. Giving personalized gifts really shows that you care: you don’t just buy the same thing for everyone like most people do. Someone who gets a present with her name printed on the ribbon feels really special. Ribbons in this online catalog can be found in all colors: many shades of blue, soft pink, purple, ivory and so on. Just take a look at the offers, and you will surely find any color that you want. Favor ribbons are the best way to show that you really care and that you love the person you are giving it to. Some of the printed ribbons have golden or silver edges. These fit great on a baby shower favor for example: they are elegant and stylish. You can add a printed ribbon to any other gift that you are planning to buy.

One of my favorite items in this shop are the personalized napkins. There is a large collection of printed napkins for various occasions: anniversaries, baby showers, baptisms, you can even find wedding napkins. Personalized napkins look great and they also make the guests feel better. There are many design to choose from and you can also pick your favorite color. I’m pretty sure I will get some of these for the communion as well. If you need some napkins printed for any kind of occasion, you should take a look at this website. It’s a good idea to check it out even if you don’t plan any favors or parties right now: you will surely find it useful sometimes in the future. Everyone will have a baby shower sooner or later!

Going Beyond Cutesy With Your Baby Shower Invitations

The storks, the blue and pink – it can all seem a little overdone and cheesy to the modern mother who is looking for shower invitations. There are some great options out there in the stationary world for a mom-to-be that doesn’t fit the stereotypical mold. Some new trends and ideas can help you send out great modern invites that give a bit of a personal flair to the standard mommy fare out there in the online invite selection.

Shower invitations in an unusual color are a great way to break free from the blue and pink tradition. Eschew pastels in favor of some bright colors – even going with fuchsia or electric blue can be a bold move that isn’t’ traditional. If you don’t know the sex of the baby, feel free to go crazy with colors. Primary colors of blue, yellow and red are a good selection. They evoke the basic toys of infancy and yet can be gender-neutral. Tailor the colors to your personality – if you are an earthy mama, find some grass greens, tans and sky blues to give off the mother earth vibe.

Find some images for your shower invitations that aren’t the standard baby carriage, mini footprint or stork. There are so many icons out there that stay away from these tired images. One invite that an expectant mother created had an image of a baby bump. The invite wording then played off this idea of a bump. Find something more abstract – if this is your first kid, look for images that evoke the idea of adding one to two. There are images that evoke an ultrasound without being so literal – that would be a great way to break the mold.

Using type and fonts is a great and simple way to modernize your baby shower invite. Using a large bold type on the front of your invite – a single word like preggers could be good for a fun, casual invite. Or find a phrase like “Coming in December 2010.” This phrase could be used to set off a whole invite evoking a movie premiere. Just using modern, simple wording can be a nice touch to the usual frilly language on old baby shower invites.

A baby will reflect your values as a couple and a family, as you will raise it with those in the forefront. You should allow your invites to show this off, as you are proud of what you stand for and how your baby will be raised. If you live in a fun household, play this up in your invites. There is no reason to feel forced into cutesiness or sentimentality if this is not your style. Embrace your uniqueness and let it come out in the invites.

Share Your Good News with Birth Announcements

What better way to announce the birth of your little bundle of joy than by sending out birth announcements? Instead of trying to call dozens of friends and family members to share your good news while trying to take care of a new born, you can send out birth announcements with all of the info that they are just dying to hear.

As soon as you deliver you are going to be inundated with calls from well wishers that are looking to get every little last detail about your precious new born. While you will also be anxious to share the exciting details those first few days back home after the hospital can be action packed.

This is why it I such a great idea to send out birth announcements as soon as your little one is born. You can have professionally made cards that will include all of the details about your little baby girl or boy. You can find these cards online for affordable prices which make them easy to have made and to share with your friends and relatives.

While you will have several different options available to you when selecting your announcement cards, keep in mind that you can also include a photo of your baby. Whether you want to send them out as quickly as possible sans the photo or have a photo included on the card, your friends and family will certainly appreciate the gesture.

Your baby’s name, height, and weight should all be included in the announcement. You may also want to include the time, date, and place of birth depending upon whether or not you include a photo. If you order your cards from an online printer you will get them much faster than if you order them from a store.

Most online printers will be able to have your order ready to ship to you within twenty four hours so you can have your cards out the very first week of your little one’s life. You can make some address labels online and affix them to the birth announcements as soon as they arrive and send them off to be mailed.

Your friends and family will be hanging their announcements on their refrigerators or finding frames for them as they tell everyone about the birth of your baby. These cards are the ideal way to spread the joy about the new edition to your family.

Stylish Birth Announcements

The addition of a new baby to any family is sure to be a very exciting event. The parents expecting a child are sure to want to share the good news with their friends and family; therefore, they will want to pick out the perfect birth announcements to spread the word.

Since this will be the first introduction of their new child to the rest of the world, it’s important to pick out the best birth announcements possible for the occasion.

When you’re choosing birth announcements, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a very festive and lighthearted occasion; therefore, it’s best to avoid dark colors or fonts that appear overly formal or drab.

Instead, pick out a some colorful cards that are either pastel or even involve vibrant and bright colors. If you happen to choose envelopes with a corresponding color scheme, then your announcements are sure to stand out in the mailboxes of all the recipients.

A fun way to give announcements of this kind a personal touch is to make their style and color scheme correspond to the gender of the baby. If it’s a boy, you could choose a light pastel blue paired with toy trucks or airplanes. This way, without having to even read the announcements, your friends and family will immediately know the gender of your new baby.

If it’s a girl, you can pick out announcements that have a more feminine flair. You could choose announcements that are light pink or even a shade of lavender.

Then, you could decorate the cards and envelopes with ribbons that match with the color scheme you’ve picked out. If you send out announcements that are dressed up, everyone will know what type of gift might be appropriate to give you in honor of the occasion.

Although it requires a bit more effort, it’s much better to send out announcements in the mail rather than simply sending a mass e-mail with the click of a button.

If you send e-mails, people are less likely to remember the event, and your message might even end up with the pile of junk mail that is probably accumulating in their inbox. Sending out announcements in the traditional mail are more likely to be kept as keepsakes and mementos of the event for many years to come.

Picking Out the Best Baby Announcement

When a new baby is going to join a family, it is certainly an exciting time for the expectant parents. They will inevitably want to share their news with both friends and family members, and use of a baby announcement is a common way for them to spread the word.

Picking out the best announcement possible is an important task since it will be the first piece of information anyone has about a child. Although it might be easy to simply send out a mass e-mail that informs everyone of the news, it will be far less personal than what the exciting occasion deserves.

For such a monumental event, it’s best to opt for an announcement printed on beautiful and cheerful stationery to convey the message to everyone about your new arrival.

In many cases, a baby announcement can correspond to the gender of the baby. If it’s going to be a boy, for instance, it could be adorned with toy trucks or cars, or even a railroad theme. It also could incorporate blue font and a blue interior for the envelope- how creative!

For girls, announcements with dolls and ribbons are appropriate, and they are typically in pink or purple pastel shades.

Repeating pink or blue themes is a great way make sure that your guests will be sure to remember whether your new baby is a boy or a girl.

It will also certainly help out when it comes time for your guests to buy a present for the new born. In either case, be sure to pick out fun fonts and colors that convey the sense of excitement you have about the new addition to your family.

Announcements that are hand written and mailed are better than e-mailed announcements because they can be saved and treasured for many years after it is sent out. Many people like to include baby announcements in scrapbooks or photo albums along with pictures of the newborn.

E-mail announcements do not provide for this particular option, and if they’re printed out, that might look tacky in comparison to the other beautiful notes and photographs. A tasteful and carefully selected announcement can complement the party and be a special asset to any sort of collection of memorabilia.

When picking out a baby announcement, many couples choose to opt for a more formal design. They might choose a heavy card stock, or an elegant script font with the baby’s name and arrival date.

This is also an appropriate choice; however, make sure not to make the announcement so formal that it looses the sense of excitement and celebration that you will want to convey.

New babies bring about a tremendous amount of joy, and it’s important to pick out stationery that has an upbeat design so that by looking at it, recipients will feel part of your elation as well.

Finding the Perfect Birth Announcements

After I had my twins I wanted to find the perfect birth announcements to send out to family and friends.

I had a beautiful baby girl named Lydia and a handsome boy named Max. Since I was an avid scrap booker I headed over to my local scrap booking supply store to find some card stock and a kit for making birth announcements.

I was confident that I would be able to find something that would be perfect for announcing the birth of my wonderful new twins.

Unfortunately my confidence was grossly misplaced. I was able to find kits and card stock for making birth announcements in pink for girls and blue for boys. None of the kits had an adequate amount of space for me to include information about both of my twins.

None of the cards would be suitable for both a boy and a girl. I was extremely disappointed. After I talked to the clerk at the front desk who knew that I was a regular customer, she pulled a card off of her personal bulletin board behind her register.

It was a professionally printed birth announcement that her daughter had sent out after the birth of her first child.

The birth announcement was everything that I had wanted. There was a great photograph of the baby and all of the personal information that I wanted to include was monogrammed onto the card.

It had the baby’s name, date of birth, and his height and weight. The card was adorable and professional looking. The clerk at the store told me that her daughter had these made from an online personalized stationery printer.

She reassured me that the printer was very affordable and that I would be much happier with the results. Even though I was optimistic that I would be able to find an affordable online printer I was concerned that I would be able to find announcements in a gender neutral color.

After a little bit of searching online I was able to find a business that had a huge selection of birth announcements available.

I was also very pleased to find some in green and other neutral colors that would be perfect for a twin boy and girl.

By adjusting the font size the printer was able to fit a photograph and all of the birth information of both twins on one card. I could not have been happier with the results.
