My wife and I are expecting a baby boy due this summer. As we prepare for the arrival of our son, we look ahead with anticipation of another wonderful event; a baby shower. Prior too a baby shower there usually isn’t anything prepared yet for the child. This is especially true if it is your first. Now, my wife and I have one child already, a girl. As you can imagine we have little in the realm of boy clothes, or even neutral clothes for when he arrives. Luckily though, a baby shower is on its way.

With custom invitations sent to our friends and family, we have compiled our own fighting force of kid necessities. With so many color options and styles to choose from, we only had to figure out what best suited our needs for the party. Our registry has been lighting up like the 4th of July (which incidentally is our due date), and we know that when the party hits, a large majority of our needs will be taken care of.

Now what do you suppose comes next? The thank you cards. I love to write thank you cards, and to let people know I care about what they have done to help me…but honestly, I am terrible at remembering who gave what and making sure the “thank you’s” are proper and precise. My wife is much better at that than I. She takes out her notepad and writes out everything everyone gave so she can thank them properly. It is these personal moments, however, that truly leave lasting impressions on friends and family, and with a baby on the way making memories is truly important.
