National Cheesecake Day

National Cheesecake Day, yes it does exist! It falls on July 30 this year. It is not a figment of your imagination. The cheesecake was given birth in ancient Greece. The evolution of the modern version stems from something called the “placenta.” Its crust was prepared and baked separately. It’s novel, very unique information to enlighten guests with. Send them Custom Cards as invitations for cheesecake events you’ll have on July 30 or around that day. Surprise, surprise the invention of cream cheese is actually American. It is the main ingredient in all of American cheesecakes. In 1872 William Lawrence accidentally invented a way of producing “unripened cheese” looking to recreate a French cheese, Neufchatel. In 1912 James Kraft perfected the process for pasteurized cream cheese and options for cheesecake have not been the same since. They use ricotta cheese in Italy and quark in the Netherlands, Poland and Germany.

Bastille Day, July 14th?

July 14th happens to be Bastille Day. It commemorates the arrival of democracy to France on July 14th, 1789. We don’t currently make a Custom Napkin to celebrate the occasion. Before that France was ruled by a monarchy. Bastille Day “symbolizes” the end of the constitutional monarchy in “the most violent, famous revolution in modern history.” If you’re familiar with the old adage that all good things come to an end the French Revolution brought clarity to what was ” seen as a uprising ” against an opulent monarchy that taxed the poor unsympathetically. They lived lavishly while some citizens couldn’t pay taxes. “High taxes spurred” the storming of the Bastille both literally and symbolically vanquished “a government teetering n the edge of bankruptcy.” King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were captured as they attempted to leave the palace at Versailles. The Bastille, a fortress prison in Paris that held prisoners for arbitrary royal indictments and for offenses against the royal government. In 1789 only seven only seven inmates were freed by the crowd that proved to be too much for the Bastille defenders. Nighty-eight attackers died in the aftermath along with seven defenders. The Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen followed.

Savory and sweet crepes, quiche, ratatouille, creme brule, red onion and goat tart , baguettes and salad Nicoise are all traditional foods served on Bastille Day. Make your personal celebration something to remember with Domaine Chandon Imperial and our Paris Foil Stamped Napkins or any of our other best selling custom napkins to add a little color and your own personal touch to a celelebration that could be nothing more than a champagne toast with a fruit and cheese platter and a few good friends to end the celebration on a somber note. Oxford, Forever Foil Stamps or Classic Monogram Foil Stamps can catch the light reinforce the meaning of the day, to “create reconciliation for all France with unity and liberty that led to the birth of a new nation in France. It is often thought that Bastille Days uprising led to the birth of the modern nation.

National Fried Chicken Day!

Have you heard of National Fried Chicken Day? It falls on July 6 this year. I guess it’s something those folks at Kentucky Fried Chicken would keep more a breast of… I’ve never heard of them use it as a promo either. There is no attributed creator or origin for this day, no congressional or presidential proclamation but if you’re inclined to celebrate it two days after the 4th of July you may have left over fried chicken and Personalized Napkins that will come to good use. Custom napkins will accent the presentation as well as keep your fingers clean. Embossed, Monogrammed, Foil Stamped and even Color Mist Napkins will surely accent a buffet or table arrangement very nicely. Any one of our 197 Napkins can surely bring a celebration to life. Fried chicken is a popular past time at wedding receptions, is it something you’re considering along with Guest Towel napkins for yours?

Fried Chicken and its traditional accompaniments probably remind a lot of folks of Kentucky Fried Chicken but then again you can elevate National Fried Chicken Day to a whole new affair. The holiday may be lame. It doesn’t even provide a date for when it was first observed neither does the phenomenon of fried chicken itself. It has been attributed to Scott’s and Scottish immigrants who brought a tradition of deep fat frying chicken to the new world. The practice also developed independently in West Africa, in the earlier 1700s.
I haven’t done extensive research on Colonel Harland Sanders but he began selling it from a roadside restaurant in 1930. You could really make a unique statement for a lunch or theme menu with unique Napkins that make unique statements, eating it cold, hot or as a snack. Estate, Whitlock Monogram, Tribute Guest Towels and Elise Monogram Foil Stamps surely would add understated elegance along with your side dishes of cole slaw, potato salad, rice pilaf, macaroni and cheese, marinated vegetables, corn on the cob and three bean salad. Napkins would be great for parfaits, strawberry shortcake or your favorite yogurt or ice cream cups, do you have a favorite custom napkin?
